THE ART OF POWER (2010)
We are inclined to think that institutions are driven by reason and collective interests of society. This era, Francisco Reina says, has shown how much of an illusion that idea is, certainly in Spain. Institutions, whether in the public or private sector, are to an increasing degree in the grip of small but very powerful political and economic groups, which have scarcely any contact with the society. Reina has digitally manipulated their bulwarks to make the inaccessibility and opacity of power visually perceptible.

Uruksoth
Francisco Reina (Spain, b. 1979) found the inspiration for his project The Fourth Dimension in his youth as a 'metalhead'. He sought to portray the atmosphere, passion and power that is expressed in this aggregate of music and lifestyle in his portraits of amateur Death Metal and Black Metal musicians.

Biography
Francisco Reina (Spain, b. 1979) is a Spanish photographer working out of The Hague, in The Netherlands. He is occupied with social, political and cultural questions, and with the role of the image in our ever more constructed, artificial daily life. In his work he seeks metaphors that arise from a critical view of the world. He won the 1st prize for Digital Art in the 35th Banaja Awards, and was included in the book NEW Dutch Photography Talent 2012.
