For the Noorderlicht Photofestival 2013, we call upon the photographic community to help build an inspired, profound and heartfelt exhibition on the so-called '1%', or rather; the roots of the current economic crisis.

The Sweet and Sour Story of Sugar

World Tour 2012-2013


Last November, The Sweet and Sour Story of Sugar started its world tour. The exhibition in Jakarta just finished, it is now on show in Yogyakarta (both Indonesia) and in 2013 it will visit Brazil, Surinam and the Netherlands. The project tells about the dynamics and history of globalization by addressing the bittersweet legacy of sugar.

With commissioned works by James Whitlow Delano (Japan/US), Alejandro Chaskielberg (Argentina), Ed Kashi (US), Francesco Zizola (Italy), Carl de Keyzer (Belgium) and Tomasz Tomaszewski (Poland).
