Museum aan de A7

Yvonne Lacet - Constructor of the Ordinary

In her work Lacet searches for archetypical images of the Western urban environment, the sort of places like suburbs, parks and shopping centres that you encounter everywhere and that have few specific characteristics.

Lacet draws on her own observations, but also visual material from the internet and from computer games. She makes sketches that she subsequently works out into paper sculptures, like maquettes without paint or decoration, bare and without frills. In the final stage of her work process she uses photography.

Yvonne Lacet won the Steenbergen Stipend and the Piet Bakker Prize in 2004. Her work has been exhibited in shows in The Netherlands and abroad, including in Germany, France and the United States. In 2009, with a grant from the BKVB Fund, she was an artist-in-residence in Berlin. In 2010 she was selected for the Festival International de Mode et de Photographie in Hyeres, France. In 2011 her work was part of the Still/Life exhibition in FOAM.

Museum aan de A7

The Museum aan de A7 is a unique collaboration between the Rabobank Drachten and Drachten Museum. This cooperation offers the museum the chance to organize exhibitions that are not possible in its building in the centre of Drachten because of their size, or construction.
